I'm a mom of two small kiddos, Cooper (2.5) and Claire (7 months) in Fairfield, CT. Before having kids, we were living in the city and I was able to go to Soul Cycle or Physique or SLT every single day. Once I had my son and was juggling work with raising Cooper, I realized that exercise went by the wayside.
At the same time, I was born with congenital heart defects which require me to still see a cardiologist regularly. I've had surgeries in the past and have always been determined to prevent needing any other procedures or drugs by just living healthy and taking care of myself.
After two high-risk pregnancies with their own sets of complications, I became even more motivated to incorporate exercise and healthy eating into our daily lives. I still struggle with getting my son to eat anything that isn't cheese, but I'm always working on it.
Before having kids, my husband and I mostly ate organic and thought we were being pretty healthy. Truthfully, I drink a lot of Diet Coke, had cocktails and wine out almost every single night and thought I was making healthy choices because I'd have an egg white sandwich in the morning and a salad at lunch.
Now, we aim to keep a Paleo diet 80% of the time and I make a point to work out every single day (running, a video, a spin class, etc). While I'm still on my health journey to get to the place I want to be, I feel stronger and healthier than I have in years. And am thrilled to be back in clothes I wore before getting pregnant with my son.
MY BACKGROUND
I graduated from Georgetown University with a double major in English Literature and Art History (which really means I'm great at cocktail parties and writing emails).
As my passion for health and wellness grew, I took classes through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition as well as Precision Nutrition. This has not only changed how my family and I eat but has changed how I look at food and nutrition all together.
